History in the Present – 30-34/100 Camino Photos

History is ever-present in Spain. From the artwork featuring the traditional garb of the pilgrim (wool cloak, wide-brimmed hat, staff, and scallop shell)


to the reminders that past generations left their mark


to the royal symbols high on walls and above doorways.


Stone walls buttress the path, but when were they built? Eons ago, perhaps. Ahead, like in this picture, church steeples beckon you on to the next village.
